Capitol Distributing began in Meridian, Idaho in 1983 with a customer base of a few dozen retailers in southwest Idaho. The company gradually grew its customer base, tripling its sales every decade. Today, Capitol Distributing is the largest independent convenience store distributor in Idaho, supplying more than 400 convenience stores throughout Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and Utah.

Our focus has been to offer outstanding service to its customers.  The company’s philosophy of “large enough to serve, small enough to care” is demonstrated everyday by our commitment to advanced product management technologies, continuing improvements in product handling and delivery equipment, and our people—our most important assets.

Over the past seven years, the company invested in a new operations technology, purchased additional warehouse space, expanded its warehouse automation, constructed a new freezer, and invested in refrigeration units for its entire fleet of vehicles.  Since then, we have expanded and improved our foodservice product lines, rolled-out improved ordering technologies, hosted top-notch events for retailers, and introduced several applications that help our retailers be more efficient. 

Offering thousands of items, the company employs over 60 full-time employees and ships more than 30 truckloads of product each week.  Capitol Distributing operates in more than 65,000 square feet of warehouse space and has the capacity to expand to 200,000 square feet on its current campus.
